GALA Dolly prototype model for General Applications Robotics.
Currently in development is a programmable robotics platform for General Applications, aka “GALA”. General Applications means that the robot will be able to do any desired task, such as emailing, balancing your checkbook, or clearing the dinner table. It is a response to the current marketplace of consumer electronics in which case each task requires the purchase of a separate robot for cleaning the cat box, vacuuming the floor, entertaining party guests, etc.
Upon delivery of the hardware requirements, the project will re-organize into a software-based, .NET solution for the purpose of automating these Applications. This will be an open-source assembly utilizing the latest trends in Artificial Intelligence, as well as my own logic which I call “TEA” (Tay-uh), which stands for Template and Entity Algorithm.
The goal of this enterprise is to create the first automated, humanoid robot system for the consumer electronics market, the GALATEA. At present, it’s just a Basic Stamp and a Power Wheels SUV interfaced with a Windows XP laptop. Because she is wheel-based, rather than bipedal-based, I named the prototype “Dolly”.
